Adam and I had two conversations this week with guys that work at leading social media marketing agencies.  Both described the exact same reporting process:

  • Set aside an entire afternoon.
  • Log in to Google Analytics, Twitter, bit.ly, Facebook, YouTube, blog, etc.
  • Manually aggregate numbers, comment counts, visits, referrals, etc.
  • Dump it in an Excel file and build some pretty graphs.
  • Put the graphs in a Word file and explain what it all means.
  • PDF the document and deliver to the client.
