How would you feel if you talked for 16 hours straight, standing up, two days in a row?

Well, that’s about how Adam and Eric felt after the Internet Summit 2010 and why it took a few days for them recover and write about it.

First, Eric participated in the pre-conference intensive, where he gave a talk called “What Social Media Tools Do You Need?”  Then the guys proceeded to meet, talk, shake hands with, share business cards with, exchange war stories with and give demonstrations to what seemed like hundreds over the course of the two day event.

The Argyle Social booth was right by the front door of the Demo Showcase room, so we were first stop for many folks.  (Props to Alan and Addy from MailVU for splitting the booth power costs.  Leave it to the entrepreneurs to figure out a way costs by sticking it to the Raleigh Convention Center.)

Of all the Demo Showcase presentations, an Argyle favorite was Doug Kaufman’s from Spring Metrics. In 30 short seconds, he compared Google Analytics to the Matrix and promised to revolutionize online marketing analytics. How cool is that?

To top it all off, there was the TIMA After Party. With barbeque and beer. And fire dancers. Now do you understand why there was a blog delay?

Fire. Dancers.

Were you there? Tell us your favorite moments.

Here at Argyle Social, it’s no secret we fly our geek flags pretty high. And we’re about to be joined by more than 1,000 of our closest friends.

The third annual Internet Summit will be happening around the corner in Raleigh from November 17-18, 2010. This event brings together thought leaders and showcases revolutionary ideas in technology, the Internet and new media. Folks are coming from across the country from big name companies such as StumbleUpon, IBM, Google, Red Hat…oh, and a little company called Argyle Social.

On Wednesday November 17, our very own CEO Eric Boggs will take the stage during the pre-conference intensive on social media. He’ll be discussing which social networks are most effective for your brand and how to manage them for the greatest returns.

Eric will be in good company. Raleigh social media experts Jim Tobin and Jeffrey Cohen will also present, along with representatives from Buddy Media and Microsoft.

And for some more Argyle goodness, check us out at the Demo Showcase , also on November 17. We are honored to be presenting at the showcase alongside other emerging, forward-thinking companies like JobKatch and KnowledgeTree.

If you can’t make it to the Internet Summit, you can still keep up! Just follow the hashtag #isum10 on Twitter.

Post a comment if you’re going, too. We’ll keep an eye out for ya.

Argyle At UNC CAUSE This Week

by  |  November 8, 2010

Our own Adam Covati is breaking out his finest argyle socks Wednesday, Nov. 10. Only the best, he says, for the UNC CAUSE conference for technology leaders on North Carolina college campuses.

Adam will sit on the closing keynote panel of the conference to talk about social media in higher education. Privacy issues, location-based social networks and social media measurement are all up for discussion.

Why is social media so important for higher education? Nearly the entire student population of a university is on Facebook or Twitter. It’s never been more valuable for a college to be on social networks – reaching current students, potential applicants and alumni. And with school budgets getting tighter, being able to measure the ROI on social media efforts is invaluable.

(Too bad there aren’t any social media marketing platforms that will help out with that. Oh, wait…).

Joining Adam on the panel will be Wayne Sutton, social media mastermind for TriOut and OurHashtag, and Leslie Dare, director of student affairs technology services at NC State. The panel starts at 12:15 p.m. Don’t miss it!

Also, make sure you find Argyle in the Cape Fear Ballroom at Booth 18 Tuesday, Nov. 9. Talk to Adam, demo Argyle, see how useful it is in higher education, be part of the awesomeness. We want to see you there.

Can’t make it to Wilmington? Follow the hashtag #unccause to see what everyone is saying from the conference.

Hope to see you there!

Holy Crap! Avinash!

by  |  September 10, 2010

The Triangle AMA is putting on “Marketing Training Analytics Camp” on Wednesday, October 20 in Durham

Avinash Kaushik – Analytics Evangelist at Google – is the headlining act and several leading Triangle-based companies round out the bill – including everyone’s favorite social media marketing platform providers.  You can view the full event agenda here.

Obviously, we’re super-excited to do an event with heavy hitters like SAS, IBM, McKinney, Capstrat, and Brooks Bell Interactive.  And we’re even more excited that the event description calls us “experts” and “pioneering”.

But seriously – Avinash?  We’re HUGE fans.  To understand the scale of our fanboyism, consider the following illustration:

Yeah – we said it – Avinash is the Justin Bieber of web analytics.  Incredibly talented and the hottest act around.  Not sure if he’s friends with Jay-Z, though…

So come to the web analytics show on Oct 20.  Should be a good time.
